The Protection & Social Rehabilitation Center "Aman", a Qatar Foundation for Social Work center, organized a training course on the basic concepts and procedures of social protection field and skills. This course was conducted by Dr. Nihaya Rimawi – Psychologist and Educational Consultant of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, for the employees of Protection and Rehabilitation Departments and lasted for three days.   

This course is intended to provide the trainee with the basic skills in the field of protection, rehabilitation and integration, develop the skills of psychological, social and legal mentors and specialists, focus on supporting their points of strength, and improve the performance in accordance with the latest scientific theories and developments through field training, in addition to addressing the techniques of mentoring sessions and case management, training on the technical aspects and introducing proper methods for dealing with the beneficiaries of Aman Center services and identifying the best solutions for any problem using the modern methods and techniques.    

The key topics addressed by Dr. Nihaya included the primary skills of service providers (social workers) to deal with the beneficiaries comprising women, children and those who are victims of violence or break up, as well as highlighting case management techniques for protecting the beneficiaries of Aman Center, and the relevant methodology adopted.     

In this context, Ms. Amna Al-Mahmoud, Director of the Protection Department at Aman Center expressed “the endeavor of Protection Department to organize such training courses for its employees since such courses provide new skills and identify the work mechanisms according to the new scientific theories for the purpose of improving the work and professionally performing it. Also, the field of social protection, rehabilitation and integration requires attending training courses and application workshops to be familiarized with the latest developments for raising quality and efficiency of the specialists' performance".   

Additionally, Ms. Sabeeka Al-Nasr, Director of the Rehabilitation Department at Aman Center, stressed the significant benefits of such training course for social, psychological and legal specialists due to the exchanged experiences and new information in the field of social protection. This accordingly contributes to fulfilment of Aman Center vision, mission and strategic objectives to minimize violence, as the employees of Aman Center will attempt to provide high quality works using the state of the art techniques adopted in the field of social protection and rehabilitation."     

It is worth mentioning that the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "Aman" is concerned with the protection and rehabilitation of women and children who are victims of violence and family breakdown and reintegrating them into society.
